2013 Shelby GT500 Will Really Make 662HP…Holy S*#%!

2013 Ford Shelby GT500, 662 Horsepower

The story of Ford’s upcoming “make all other pony cars my bitch” Shelby GT500 is one that just keeps getting more and more unbelievable. Take for instance the bargain price of just $54,995 for a car that is a proud member of the 200 MPH club. This car really is the cheapest way to go 200 MPH.

Of course, the mind blowing horsepower numbers were what got most people’s attention- 650 of them to be exact. But according to a recent official dyno test that number isn’t so exact. It’s actually 12 horses shy of it’s actual certified output, an absolutely mind-melting 662 horsepower.

Those numbers make it the most powerful V8 ever produced in automotive history.* It’s also one of the torquiest (<– yeah, that’s probably not a real word) with 630 lb-ft of it! Your tire budget will likely need to be just as much as the car.

Let’s look at this one more time. For a fiver short of $55k you can get a 200 mph supercar with the most powerful production V8 ever created? Honesty, how can the GT500 get any better than this?

Oh yeah, Shelby also says it will do 0-60 in first gear alone. Happy Friday.

*Barring the super limited production Koenigsegg Agera R’s V8 that does 1100hp on E85. The Agera R will also cost you 29.28 times more than the GT500…
