Aston Martin’s One-77 Steals Title of Most Powerful NA Engine Ever

Aston Martin One-77We’re assuming that when independent sources, say Motortrend, Car & Driver, and hopefully the Daily Derbi someday (forgive the gratuitous plug), go to test the claimed power of production cars on the dyno, manufacturers hold their breath. After all, talk is cheap and it’s often the case that horsepower numbers are easier said then done.

So when Aston Martin started boasting a massive 750HP from their new One-77, it’s understandable that most people took it with a grain of salt. Ya sure, the One-77 has a big V12 engine under it’s even bigger and manlier bonnet but even that power is hard to generate with no turbocharger or supercharger- both of which this Aston doesn’t have.

According to Jalopnik though, Aston is now claiming that they have had their One-77 tested and certified at 750HP and 553.2 lb-ft of torque. Certified by who? We don’t know, but it doesn’t really matter as long as somewhere a dyno with a One-77 on top is saying 750HP.

One more thing- that power number is enough to give this Aston supercar the title of most powerful naturally aspirated production car in the world. The previous title holder? The Ferrari Enzo with 660HP. But with rumors of Ferrari’s recent love for turbos, we doubt anyone will be stealing that title away from Aston Martin anytime soon.
