BAIC 007 SUV Is The Car James Bond Would Never Drive

By | January 14, 2011

BIAC 007Come on, China!  It’s one thing to manufacture crappy cars with Elephantiasis, but to allow Chinese manufacturer BAIC to brand their newest SUV the 007 is flat out…well… communism. In all seriousness though, nothing on the car above resembles anything close to James Bond, especially since we’re used to seeing MI6′s finest rolling around in Aston Martin DB5s and Russian tanks.

So what exactly does the low price of $12,100 get you with the new BAIC 007? Besides a Kevin Federline chinstrap line under the bonnet, you’ll get a 2.0-liter engine connected to a 5-speed manual transmission. And if you’re feeling particularly daring (like any MI6 agent should), you can opt for a nav system as well. I’m sure that with all of the 007′s “cutting edge” technology things like Bond’s laser watch and grenade pen feel super lame and antiquated now. Or not.

Let’s just state the obvious here: if you want to name your new car James Bond’s MI6 secret agent call sign, then give it something worthy of the title. Machine guns underneath the hood, missiles behind the headlights, a freaking moon roof- anything to make it not the 1999 Mitsubishi Montero that it really is. Q would be rolling in his grave right now.
