Blip: The Final 2013 Viper Teaser

By | April 2, 2012

When the first Viper hit showroom floors in 1992, I was just eight years old and since that time the meanest snake on four wheels has been burned into my memory.  I remember seeing my first SRT-10 at the state fair, sitting next to a Testarossa… i don’t remember anything else from that fair, except for maybe a 500 pound gourd.

The Dodge Viper has always been among my favorite cars.  It’s completely raw and even up until its demise in 2010, the Viper was a pure muscle car.  No fancy stability control nannies were found on the Viper.  Either you respected the machine you were piloting or it bit you hard.

2013 will mark the return of the Viper under the SRT Moniker and SRT has been teasing us for months on what the new Halo car for Chrysler is going to look like. With the official unveiling of the new Viper just days away, we have a final teaser to share.  To date it is the most revealing of the sneak peaks into the serpent of the streets and I’d be a liar if I were to say that I wasn’t excited.

The double-bubble roof of the original GTS returns in this preview and it’s clear that the new Vipers design is very serpentine indeed.  Other than that there isn’t much else to tell.  It’s doubtful that the new Viper will be as spartan in electronics as its predecessor and I’d expect some Italian DNA to be present as well.  Stay tuned for the New York Auto Show on Wednesday, when the new SRT Viper will be released!
