Bonkers Focus RS to become an American?

By | February 19, 2010

In a recent interview with Automobile Magazine, Ford’s Director of Global Performance Vehicles, Jost Capito ,has candidly stated that if the market is right, we here in the U.S. could see the highly touted Focus RS ripping up our roads in the near future.  He is currently working on aligning America’s SVT, Europe’s Team RS, and Australia’s FPV divisions to create a global performance vehicle presence.

If you are not familiar with the Focus RS and its inherent hatch back awesomeness, turn to Top Gear for their recent review and comparison of the 300hp RS to a Renault.

Being a consummate VW fan, I would love to see some more quality hatch back competition come to our shores.  We always seem to get screwed here in the U.S. when it comes to hopped-up Euro cars.  We missed out on the E36 BMW M3 Evo, all of the Mitsubishi Evo’s numbering 1 through 7, and Subaru WRX’s up until 2002.  If Ford looks at how well all of these cars sold when they finally did come across the pond, they’d see that there is a definite market for the RS.  I say bring the RS in all of its boy racer green glory!
