Coming This Fall: Top Gear America!
By Chad Waite | April 22, 2010
It’s been speculated for months. Hell, even years. Some love the idea, some hate the idea. Some even write open letters to the producers to sway casting decisions. Now, amidst the rampant speculation and opinions, comes something solid and set in stone:
Top Gear is coming to America!
Airing sometime in the fall, the hit British TV show that features old men driving new cars will find its new home on yank television. Where at? The History Channel of all places.
Perhaps the most important news, however, is the people who’ve been chosen to host the new series. A long-time speculated potential host and driving god, Mr. Tanner Foust, will be taking the reigns of the show, backed up by comedian Adam Ferrara and some dude named Rutledge Wood (apparently he is a NASCAR reporter).
We really want to know what you think! Are you excited for TGA? Do you think it will live up to its British counterpart? Did the producers pick the right people? Let us know below!

I think it will be entertaining but nothing will compare to the original.
It would have been a ton better if the hosts were Tanner, Chad and Brandon. But hey, we tried!

Not excited at all. I like the BBC show because of their unique personalities and the style of show they have developed.
Simply putting 3 American guys into the same premise is not a formula for good television. It will seem contrived.
It would be different if I had never seen the British version.
There is something about it the show having grown naturally into what it is now. If they just plop 3 American guys on a track with a couple of cameramen with polarizing filtered cameras and an anonymous driver it would just make me sigh.
We will see if they make their own show that simply shares the familiar name. If they do that, I just might watch it illegally on the Internet.

I’m a huge Jay Leno fan, and I’m not afraid to admit that TG USA is better without him. To match, nay, exceed the chemistry of the British presenters, you can’t just throw famous people in a pot…you have to recreate the chemistry. I don’t know any of these guys well enough, but I can’t wait to see a sample!

I don’t even care who the show hosts are, so long as they’re able to be friends and have the kind of fun the guys do on Top Gear UK. I doubt they’ll be able to, though. I’m betting they just cast 3 guys that seemed funny.
Good luck, History channel.

I’m not going to lie…I’m very disappointed about the new American counterpart. It’s going to be just awful. No hosts are going to compare to Clarkson, Hammond, and May. Why even try?
