Gimme Gimme Gimme: Ferrari’s New 458 Grand Am Racer

Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am

As if Ferrari’s 458 Italia wasn’t race-ready enough, the car has undergone several track-specific variations since its release. The newest variation is the 458 Italia Grand Am, a car specifically tuned to comply with the Grand Am series regulations. And geez, what a looker. I may be am totally speaking out of personal, 100% biased opinion here, but this is the best looking race car I’ve ever seen. Like “3rd leg making” good.

Of course, the adjustments are also under the hood. In sticking with Grand Am guidelines, the car had to be detuned from the stock 562-horsepower to the series max of 500. Just 500? Whatever will drivers do… To make matters worse, the redline has been taken down to 8000 rpm thanks to a more restrictive rev limiter.

Whatever.

None of that really matters. I’ll never get to drive one so looking is about all I can do. It’s like the most attractive super model you can imagine has a really bad case of syphilis. Doesn’t really matter because you won’t ever be behind the wheel.

Wow…racy post.

LOL – “third leg making good.” Best line ever. I think I’d still have the original which costs less, and has more power up a much higher redline…but I wouldn’t complain if I were handed the keys.
