Ferrari 458 Italia Spider

By now you’ve realized that we here at the DailyDerbi are rabid Ferrari fan boys, almost enough so to be inducted into the Tifosi hall of fame!  We were the FIRST to bring you the North American public debut of the 458 Italia during the Ferrari Challenge round at Miller Motorsports Park.  Rumor has it that Maranello is working on a spider version of the 458 that they plan to have out in a few years with a folding hardtop!

Sources from teamspeed.com state that Ferrari is currently in development of the new 458 spider with the all too familiar folding hardtop. This wouldn’t be Ferrari’s first foray into the hardtop convertible scene as we’ve seen them work their magic on the California.  Power and other aspects for the 458 spider are believed to remain similar to the coupe with the same sensuous 4.5 liter V8 pumping out a creamy 570 hp. We here at the Derbi expect the folding roof and all of its associated mechanisms to be made out of pure Adamantium in order to cut down on weight and maintain rigidity.  We hope the genuine article looks similar to the gorgeous teamspeed rendition above!

If you’re on the wait list for your 458 coupe you may want to consider jumping lines in order to get the best of both worlds in the upcoming spider. We’ll hope to have a full review and road test when it is finally debuted!   We can dream, right?
