Lexus’ LFA and the Lotus Exige Scura debute at Tokyo ’09

Lexus LFA Tokyo

Since 2005 Lexus has been teasing us with the LFA, their supercar stuck in concept limbo. And now, four years later in Tokyo, the LFA debuted in all of its production-ready glory.

So what does one get with this $375,000 rear-drive supercar? A massive 4.8 liter V10 capable of churning out 552 bhp for starters. On top of that the LFA boasts a 3.7 second 0-62 time and a top speed of 202 mph. Not to mention one hell of a good looking ride. It’s rare too. Lexus say that only 500 units will be produced. But we don’t reckon they will have a problem getting rid of every last one.

Looking for something a bit cheaper? Lotus stole the show debuting the Scura, their newest limited edition of the Exige. The matte-black car has been put on a carbon-fiber diet and given 260 hp from a 1.8 liter supercharged Toyota motor. Several elements of the body have been changed as well, including a new carbon-fiber splitter, side air scoops, and special lightweight black wheels.

Compared to last year’s Exige S, the Exige Scura boasts 40 more hp and weighs 22lbs less (who knew there was all of this “extra” weight on an Exige?). All of this tweaking lets the Scura go from 0-60 in 4 seconds and top out at 152 mph.

Currently Lotus will only place orders for Europe, Australia, South Africa and several other countries, so Americans will have to wait to get their hands on this one. Prices will vary from the $74,000 mark all the way up to $115,000 depending on the country.

That Lotus is righteous.
