Mega Mac Is 200-Parts Bugatti Killer, 1-Part Fast Food

McLaren Mega Mac

Something with the name Mega Mac will most likely conjure up images of the newest greasy, delicious creation from McDonalds. Not a supercar designed to outdo the Bugatti Veyron’s 0-200mph time.

Names don’t really mean much though because the Mega Mac is being designed and produced by McLaren, a company world renowned for developing amazing vehicles and terrible names for them (cue MP4-12C reference…).

Now, in our minds getting excited over concept cars is about the same as getting excited over the fake Publisher’s Clearing House check they send you to get your attention and hopes up: the real thing hardly ever shows up. But the Mega Mac, as it’s known internally at McLaren, does post some very impressive numbers, and if there’s one company that’s good at delivering on their promises, it’s McLaren.

Here’s what they’re saying the Big Mac will do:

1. 799 horsepower….from a 5.0L V8.

2. 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds.

3. 0-100mph in 5.5 seconds.

4. 0-200mph in 20 seconds.

Note that the 0-200 time is 2 seconds faster than the Bugatti Veyron Supersport’s. The car is scheduled for delivery sometime in 2014 and should be priced around $464,000 (based on today’s exchange rates), a downright value compared to the Supersport’s price of $2.6 million.
