New Lotus Esprit To Use LFA V10?!
By Chad Waite | August 28, 2010
Talk about your loaded titles! New Lotus Esprit!? LFA V10?! Together in once juicy sentence!? It certainly seems to be the case because according to the dudes over at InsideLine, Lotus is planning on resurrecting the “gone but not forgotten” Esprit at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
But to make things even better they’ve also reported that the fantastically handling yet somewhat underpowered Brits are planning to drop the v10 from the Lexus LFA into their new Esprit! And we thought a V6 Exige was exciting…
Ok, so rumors are rumors and we’ve had our fair share of them in the past (damn you GM!). What gives this one a shred of credibility? According to InsideLine, they spoke directly with a headup at Lexus who is familiar with the deal. This mysterious inside guy also mentioned that this 552-horsepower upgrade is aimed at helping this new Lotus compete with some big Italian names. Names that end in “ari” and “amborghini”.
So what do you think? Is the conversation between an avid blogger and a multinational car company executive enough to hold some light to this rumor? Chalk our vote down for “OMFG, please yes!”

Whoah, I’ve never understood Lotus and their reasoning that just “adding lightness” was enough. The best sports cars in the world add lightness AND add mad amounts of horsepower. This is definitely a move I can deal with. I’m a little surprised, however, that Toyota would let them have the full, tuned V10. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a detuned version, or had a couple cylinders lopped off.
