Please, Teach the Utah Police How to Do This!

Cop escorting slow car out of the fast lane

You’ve gotta watch this video (there is some NSFW language by the filmers, so keep your speakers down if you need to – fair warning):

How cool is that!? Oh, how we wish that we’d see this on I-15!

There is a class of person who gets in the fast lane (furthest left), and goes the speed limit. Their douchiness exudes from the fact that they’re following the law, and making the roads dangerous for everyone else.

When someone drives slower than the flow of traffic in the fast lane, it forces people to move and go around. Since it’s illegal to pass on the right, they are forcing everyone to break the law. (Can I get an amen?!) They themselves are breaking a few laws – slower traffic should stay to the right, and in Utah, you need to keep up with the flow of traffic.

Unfortunately, the aforementioned 3 laws are never enforce in Utah, at least that we’ve seen. The offense that does get targeted? Speeding. This feeds the douches who go the speed limit or slower in the fast lane to teach everyone a lesson. They know they are less likely to get ticketed than you if you go around them.

What we need is a healthy dose of what this officer is selling. Get out the way, slow Honda!!! And, if you’re a police officer, please start enforcing the traffic flow. No one should ever have to pass anyone on the right. It’s everyone’s job to gauge the flow of traffic and move over if someone behind you is going faster than you…even if they’re breaking the speed limit.

Don’t try to teach people a lesson on the roads. It’s bad form.

Amen! My momma does the “speed limit in the fast lane” thing. I tell her that she’s the kind of driver I swear at.
