Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs Ferrari 458 Italia: What Do You Think?
By Chad Waite | May 1, 2010
“Why has no one compared these two cars?” This is a phrase that all to often escapes the lips of a petrolhead dying to see the moment’s hot cars in action with each other. Of course, the current moment’s hot rides are undoubtedly the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Both exotic, elaborate, and made for the track, however, more practical and less expensive than vehicles put in the ridiculous category known as “supercar”.
So why has no one compared these two cars? That question died yesterday when Evo magazine released video of writer and driver Chris Harris throwing both vehicles into and around some bends in a green field. So now a definitive decision will be made right? Those with $250K to spend will now know which car is the better choice?
Not Exactly.
Even though Harris brought up key points about each, saying the 458 Italia was quick, responsive, and loaded with technology while the GT3 RS felt charmingly brutish but old school with a proper stick, he didn’t give us an actual answer! The “buy this car over this one” decision we expected at the end never came! Instead we were left with a vague answer, reeking of political indecisiveness.
So the answer now comes down to you, our readers. Watch the Evo video (which is positively awesome) and tell us which car you’d buy with your money.

Oh man, I’d take the Porsche due to the lower cost…except for the fact that I would have a rollcage in my car. Awesome for the track, but do I want to look between bars as I’m trying to back up in the store parking lot or check my blindspot on the highway? Ferrari hands down!

Ferrari all the way! Although both are amazing cars, Maranello really nailed the 458 with the help of Formula 1 God Michael Schumacher!

I love the Porsche but honestly, if I was given the choice, I’d go with the Ferrari.
