What: Porsche’s legendary test driver to race in 24 hours of Nurburgring with a stock Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Who: Walter Rohrl, Porsche’s famous test driver.
When: May 13-16th, 2010
The Skinny: As little as most people care for racing events or their drivers, the fact that Walter Rohrl has decided to enter the 24-hours of Nurburgring in a completely stock Porsche 911 GT3 RS will turn some heads. In case you don’t know, the 24-hours of Nurburgring brings some of the most highly modified and incredible performing cars in the world. And while a GT3 RS is certainly no slouch itself, its performance figures will not be nearly on par with some of the competition that is likely to show up.
It will be interesting to see if a stock Porsche can keep up with the world’s best. After all the car did set an astonishing Nurburgring lap time of 7:33 in light traffic. Guess we’ll find out in several months…
