Racing Blip: 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing

Round 6 of the 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing series makes it stop at Miller Motorsports Park this Saturday (8/3/13) and Sunday (8/4/13).

Today’s provisional qualifying in National Guard SuperBike class had Josh Hayes lay down a blistering 1:51.021 to grab pole position. That time is just 0.370 seconds faster then Roger Hayden. And get this, the time differential between Hayden’s 2nd place run and the 3rd place run of Martin Cardenas is 0.004 seconds!

In GoPro Daytona SportBike class, Cameron Beaubier took pole with a new track record of 1:53.637! The previous record was 1:55.219. Pretty impressive feat! Rounding the top 3 was Garrett Gerloff with a time of 1:54.758 and in 3rd was Jake Lewis, with a time of 1:54.844 on his Meen Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R6.

In the Motorcycle-Sypertore.com SuperSport class, Tomas Puerta took pole with a scorching 1:57.189. That’s 1.2 seconds faster then the previous track record! Jeffrey Tigert took 2nd with 1:57.252. Coming in 3rd was Wyatt Ferris on his Meen Motorsport Yamaha YZF-R6.

Saturday will have final qualifying starting at 8am with Fan Activities / Autograph Sessions starting at noon. Racing will start at 1pm. Later in the afternoon, Vance and Hines Harley-Davidson series qualifying will start at 4:05pm.

Sunday will have the final qualifying for the Harley-Davidson series starting at 8:30am, Fan Walk / Autograph Session starting at 11:15am, with racing starting at 12:10pm.
