Racing Blip: ALMS – Road America Road Race Showcase

#44 Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSR

American Le Mans Series makes it’s annual stop to the longest circuit of the series, Road America, in beautiful Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. 14 turns, 4.048 miles – this is another classic American road course.

As the season is coming to an end, things are heating up in the points race for all classes. Expect some good ‘ol racing for today’s 4 hour race.

Some things to watch for:

* P1 – #16 Dyson Racing had an issue with their gearbox, so they didn’t qualify. So, will that mean Muscle Milk Pickett Racing will get win number 6? Probably. I still imagine Dyson will put some pressure on the Muscle Milk team.

* P2 – A bit of an upset with Conquest Endurance topping the #055 Level 5 Motorsports during qualifying. So expect some more intensity in that class. A quick little side note, the creator / developer of “Ruby on Rails” is one of the drivers on the Conquest Endurance team.

* GT – Wow…this is really some of the best racing out there. It also helps that these cars are based on cars you can actually see in the showroom – unlike the “stock” cars of NASCAR. In a surprise move, the #44 Flying Lizards took pole. This car is the slower of the two Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSRs. Hot on the tail of the #44 will be a slew of Corvettes, BMW M3s, SRT Vipers, a Lotus and some more Porsches. Seriously, watch the race just for the battle in GT.
