Rolls Royce Set To Release Electric Phantom 102EX

By | February 20, 2011

Rolls Royce Phantom 102EX Electric ConceptDuring next week’s Geneva Auto Show¬†Rolls Royce will unveil their Phantom 102EX, a new concept vehicle two years in the making that is 100% electric. It is an obvious answer to the recent rise in gas prices, a problem that we’re sure Phantom owners are faced with every day. Rolls Royce claims it’s the first battery powered vehicle in the ultra-luxury segment, and seeing as how there’s only three or four names in that segment it looks like they have that market cornered.

Rolls also says that the car actually isn’t meant for production, but will instead be used for research and development on the use of alternative drivetrains in future models. Additionally, the use of electric motors will help with the company’s goal of worldwide domination in the “my car makes absolutely no noise when I am sitting in it and driving” segment, another area of the market they already have cornered.
