Smart Spices Things Up With…Gaudy Foil Stickers?

By | April 4, 2010

You know the saying “it’s like beating a dead horse”? This phrase is completely applicable to how then entire world (owners aside) feel about the hideous Smart ForTwo, or ‘the Smart Car’. Dropping insults over its looks is about as easy as letting an overused “your mom” joke go. Recently, however, the days of poking fun at the undesirable Smart Car have come to an end and the joke has gotten old.

But in honor of Easter, Smart has resurrected a reason to start the endless mocking of their small vehicle again: gaudy foil liveries.

We are not pulling your leg! Due to a 61% fall in sales over last year, Smart has announced special decoration packages made of foil designed to liven up the car that is already so much more than boring and stupid. Available in several different patterns, these foil liveries include anything from anime angel wings to a Brabus carbon fiber sport package (yes, sadly this high-end aftermarket tuning company somehow got sucked into this scheme).

This is most likely a case where the only people to understand this move are the people who are actually responsible for designing these pie-covering paint jobs. It is, for the lack of a better word, art! The horse isn’t dead yet…

I can’t help but think,”that person is probably a jerk,” every time I see someone driving smart car. I’m a caracist I guess.
