The 2013 Shelby GT500 Is The Cheapest Way To Go 200MPH

2013 Ford Shelby GT500

The new and utterly awesome Chevy Camaro ZL1 has been officially priced at $54,995. It’s a heavy price for a Camaro, but seems pretty reasonable for a vehicle that gives a huge 580-hp, 0-60 in just 3.9 seconds, and a freaking low ‘Ring lap time of 7:41. Not too bad, eh? Well, not to bad if you completely ignore the faster, more powerful, and (most likely)cheaper pony car that Ford just debuted today.

It’s the called the Shelby GT500 and why the hell they’ve kept the 500 (denoting the 500 ponies under the hood) in the name of this ‘roided up ‘Stang is anyone’s guess. It is a complete lie now. That’s because the upcoming 2013 GT500 will produce a jaw-dropping 650-hp and an insane, tire eating 600 lb-ft of torque! Just what exactly does that mean? According to Ford, a top speed of over 200mph….in a Mustang….holy shit.

The best part comes as what we’re guessing will be a smaller price tag than the ZL1 Camaro. Currently, the 2012 GT500 can be yours for $48,800 and we highly doubt Ford will make a big enough change to the 2013 model’s price to surpass that of the ZL1. Anyone care to go 200mph for under $54k?

Holy Geez, I never thought I’d have to refer to a Mustang as a supercar before…a status that the GT-R doesn’t even get to enjoy. Freak.

I couldn’t agree more. The 200mph+ list has only a small number of names. I’m blown away a Mustang is up there with the likes of Koenigseggs, Ferraris, and Bugattis.
