The Stig Gets Arrested And TG Takes Political Fire
By Chad Waite | October 25, 2009

Let’s start with some facts. Top Gear’s 14 season is just around the corner. We know Clarkson and the crew have been seen jetting around the Transfagarasan road in Romania with a medley of supercars, both exotic and very expensive. We know that due to several “environmentally insensitive” stunts involving a shipping yard crane, a Renault Twingo and the ocean, eco-nuts and even a Member of British Parliament have criticized Top Gear’s boundaries yet again. And now we’ve found out that The Stig has been arrested in Dublin, Ireland.
The first whiff of the arrest came directly from Top Gear’s website explaining that “The Stig wasSENSATIONALLY ARRESTED by a FRIENDLY POLICEMAN following an ALLEGED INCIDENT of some kind.” Ya, it really isn’t much to go off of, we know.
But this lack of information is ok, if not appreciated. Nothing generates hype like seeing real-world consequences for a show about fantasy motoring. Be it a Top Gear PR stunt or a real incident, I cannot wait to see what has Great Britain’s politicians up in arms.
And if that isn’t enough to get you excited for season 14 then perhaps this picture of a Twingo getting tossed into a harbor full of a cargo ship’s spinning props will.
