The Top Gear Test Track First Hand Plus the Ugliest Car Ever Made

By | October 23, 2009

Today AutoBlog reported on two major developments in the world of cars that are of equal importance, therefore both deserve a spot on the Daily Derbi.

Lets start with some news about the Top Gear track. Avid, girlfriend-less fans (me) of Top Gear can tell you the standing champion on the Powerlap Board is the Gumpert Apollo S with a blistering lap time of 1:17.1. Just a week ago, however, British sports car manufacturer Ultima destroyed that time with their GTR720 in an unofficial 1:09.9 lap time around the Top Gear track.

But enough with the numbers. The most interesting part of this video is the uncut and unedited view that is offered of the Top Gear track. Because of brilliant BBC editing viewers never really get a sense of how the track “feels”. Sure we can name all of the corners but I couldn’t tell you the distance of the Follow-Through or how sharp of a turn Bacharach Bend is. This video is an awesome up-close and personal view of the track.

Finally, China has stolen the record from the Nissan Cube and made the new ugliest car ever. It’s made by a company called Jianghuai and I’ve decided I never want to write about or look at it again.

Ugliest Chinese Car

Sorry Chad, but the Pontiac Aztek is the Ugliest Car Ever with the Nissan Cube in second and the Yugo in third. That car just looks like the retarded cousin of the Hyundai Elantra (’01-’03) with an very over-sized grill. I think it’s trying to be a Cadillac and a Hyundai at the same time.

Haha, wow. I totally agree about the Aztek. The problem is there must be some recognition for new ugly cars. The Nissan Cube and the Aztek will forever be in the holy grail of awful awful cars.
