Tuning Gone Wrong: ‘I Just Don’t Get It’ Edition

Sometimes people do just plain bad things to their cars. Many times it’s the manufacturer of the car itself, say, Ferrari and their 100% absolutely terrible new FF. More often, though, it’s the owner of the car, like the driver of this 2004 VW Beetle below. We don’t really understand what the shark fin on this Beetle does, but we can tell you that it’s the worst ‘upgrade’ for this V-Dub since Fran Drescher’s face was glued the headlights. God help us all the day these two modifications meet on the same car. Tip o’ the hat to Derek T. for the photo.

Ha! This guy lives next to the karting guru my buddies use. Evidently this guy is an engineer who developed the wing to maximize MPG’s. The non-obscenely winged stock TDI New Beetle is good for mid 40-50mpg’s and evidently this “mod” nets the guy 60-80mpgs! Sure looks hilarious but if it really works that well, kudos to him. Found this autoblog (green?) article about it- http://aol.it/gsvLcK

I can respect that. But I’m too shallow to do it. :D
