Utah Event: Utah Grand Prix

Utah Grand Prix

This weekend, the 2011 season at Miller Motorsports Park officially begins! Ah, what joy those words proclaim. To kick off the season right, MMP is hosting the Utah Grand Prix, a combination of five race series including two of our favorites from last year. Returning will be the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and the SCCA World Challenge, currently tied for first with Ferrari Challenge for the title of The Daily Derbi’s favorite series.

Now, for those of you who have instantly scoffed at the word NASCAR, just picture this. Take those boys who drive in large leftward turning ovals and put them on a road course with lots of funding to repair broken, crashed cars. OMG, it is unbelievably fantastic. It’s also the most fun you can have watching a race short of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series.

Now you already know that we really, really like World Challenge. It’s simple and the cars are all vehicles that you and I drive, so it’s easy to feel a connection with the series. But on top of these two events, the Utah Grand Prix also brings the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Championship, IMSA Patron GT3 Challenge, and the Pirelli Challenge, all fantastic series in their own rights. Sold? Good. See you at Miller Motorsports Park.
