Utah native and professional driver Melanie Snow is making history by joining the first all-female ALMS driver’s crew during the series’ upcoming event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on August 5th.
She’ll be joining up with Andrea Robertson from Robertson Racing and getting behind the wheel of the only Ford GT in the entire ALMS series. It’s also pretty much the only non-Porsche car in the series’ GT class and sticks out like a sore thumb among the pack. That’s definitely not a bad thing though.
Melanie, who is also a race instructor out at the Miller Motorsports Park’s driving schools, has the chance to make more history if she’s able to bring Robertson Racing a win. You’ll recall that in the four year’s of the team’s participation in the ALMS (a totally private, non-factory supported team), Robertson Racing has never taken first and has only one recent third place podium finish to show for their years of effort. I’ll be the first to say that an all-female driver crew scoring the team’s first victory would be pretty bad ass.
It’s just to bad this is going down in Ohio and not the Miller Motorsports Park…
