Vyrus 987 packs 211 horsepower and no front forks!

By | February 3, 2010

Just the fact that the standard forks connected to the front tire are completely missing from this picture should tell you that the Vyrus 987 isn’t your normal bike. And yes, this is a blog about cars, but when a newcomer steals the title for ‘most powerful production motorcycle’, we have to deviate for a moment.

The Vyrus 987 come straight from a small manufacturer in Italy called Vyrus (go figure). It sports a 1198cc Ducati engine, resulting in an absolutely unnecessary 211 horsepower, all to move a bike that weights just 339 pounds. That’s ‘Kristie Alley chasing a pizza’ type acceleration.

Still not impressed? The Vyrus’ price tag will change that. For a standard Italian Ducati Monster one would need to dish out about $14,000. To own a 987, however, you’re entering into the ’2nd mortgage’ price range of around $70,000!

We still have no idea how the bike actually works with no front forks. But that’s the price you pay for looking at pictures instead of reading the article…
