Weekend Wallpaper: #3 Corvette Racing Corvette C6.R
By Mike Gillilan | July 8, 2012
I’ve covered the Corvette Racing Corvette C6.R. This is the 2012 iteration.
The engine difference between the two versions are subtle. A slight bump in HP to 491 and 485 lb-ft of torque. The most noticeable difference is the wider front end…part of the competition adjustment that Corvette Racing received over the winter from the ALMS folks.
And yes, the C6.R still has less HP/torque then the road going ZR1 on which it’s based on. Welcome to regulations in racing.
So, do you think racing regulations are hindering or helping racing these days?

I can’t imagine that racing teams appreciate having to detune the engine and rework the gear ratios and powerband due to the forced changes. I understand wanting to keep things fair, but if one car has 700hp, the others can tweak their engines to match the horses. Seems like a hindrance.
