Ford FR500S

To paraphrase a tag line, “Ford’s first classic muscle car to Ford’s first production race car”. This is the Ford Mustang FR500S.

Taking Ford’s 4.6L V8 engine, pushing out 325HP, running with BFGoodrich g-Force R1s, this car was designed by a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and Miller Motorsports Park. The reason? The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Series, created by the late Larry H Miller, owner of MMP.

While not as potent as the 550hp FR500GT, you can find this car racing in various racing series throughout the United States. Such as SCCA World Challenge, Grand-Am, and not to mention MPRA.

As a side note, if you live in Utah (or traveling to the state), you can rent and race these Mustangs @ MMP. One of the better ways to see if you have what it takes to make the jump from a “boy street racer” to full fledge professional race car driver.

Don’t you think it’s time test your abilities?
