Mazda FXDD RX-8

Mazda FXDD RX-8 GT

The Mazda FXDD RX-8 GT – 3-Rotor ’20B’ Rotary Mazda engine, built by SpeedSource Engineering.  2,350 lbs. Around 400 HP.

Fast, light weight, nice.

With the recent announcement of the end of their rotary engine sports car, I thought this photo might be appropriate – an endangered species.

It has always been a joy to watch the RX-8 GT’s on the track. And I’ve always appreciated Mazda’s commitment to the racing scene, from the grass roots of SCCA / NASA spec-miata’s, cooper prototype lites, Mazda6 and RX-8′s in SCCA World Challenge, to RX-8′s in Grand-Am. It’s a refreshing change.

Do you have a favorite “zoom-zoom” moment?

Great pic!! My favorite zoom zoom moment is when a friend of mine bought a Mazda Speed3 and we took it for a spin and it really impressed me! He gets new tires every months…

Mine was definitely the first time I took my Miata up the Lone Peak access road in Provo. It’s a super twisty road for miles with tons of elevation gain. Not a lot of power under the hood, but the turns are where the Miata really comes to life.
